New pictures and advice needed

A family who just traveled to pick up their babies brought back pictures for us. Thank you Andrea and family! They said that Josiah is shy, which makes sense from all his pictures - and poor guy is so pretty in pink :), but he looks so clean and comfy and that is what matters. Also, look at poor Jeremiah's skin. I know a lot of babies come home with skin conditions. Is this eczema? Something else? If you have any experience with eczema or bringing your baby home with something that looks similar, will you give me some ideas of what it might be and what works best? About 4 days and counting (6 days until we hold them).

Wow, only four days till take off! I can't believe it. I hope you guys have a fantastic trip.

I can't help with the skin irritation....it does look like eczema, but I have no first hand experience with it.

Our Dr. diagnosed Noah's condition as impetigo (a skin infection usually caused by another open sore/wound...possibly eczema. For this he prescribed a medication. As the weather has been changing, Noah's skin has again broken out on his cheeks. For this I was told to put Hydro cortisone on it. I also keep lotion on his cheeks.
I would take his picture to your dr/pediatrician and make sure that it would be okay to put hydrocortisone on it. You may find that there are sores on his body as well. Just know that it will be taken care of, but I would get him into the Dr as soon as you get home.

I will be watching to see when they are in your arms!

My prayers will be with you as I read of your journey! Best of wishes...you will have a wonderful time there!

I really think this is nothing to worried about especially that you have skin doctors here everywhere. They be healed here in no-time. The biggest thing that is most worrysome is mollosum (s). Those are the worts and there is not medication for it. It has to heal naturally. Don't stress, please. I will leave a message on my agency's yahoo thing right after I get off here. Your boys really looking nice. Four days and counting.

Poor little guy :( I agree with Andrea don't stress it will be ok . When you get home he will be fine. But I would email a picture to you Ped. And maybe he will know right away and can prescribe you something to bring with you. His mommy will be there to take care of him soon. They are 2 lucky boys :)
Love ya girl and can't wait to hear about your trip.
Hey don't forget to tell your sister to update your blog while you are gone :) PLEAZZZZZE

I completely agree with taking this picture of Jeremiah to the doc to see if you can put anything on it. Maybe he'll even prescribe something for him...you never know. It's worth trying though! I can't believe you're getting your boys this week! I'm so thrilled for you all!

I'm not sure that its eczema. Some parts look like it and some don't. It could possibly be scabies as well. I would agree w/ seeing if you can take the pic to a doc.

Scabies requires a prescription medication that you have to put on them all over at bedtime and then wash off in the morning. Sometimes it takes 2 treatments. It is contagious though and so I would want to try to get rid of it over there before you bring him back and expose everyone. (It can incubate for like 3 wks before it shows up.)

Again, not sure that's what it is. You can google some pictures.

Met your sister Jeanette yesterday at my SIL's baby shower. She's so sweet and the girls are adorable!

Hi Joy! I didn't get a chance to talk to you at Mesa Amphitheater, but I wanted to. I am so excited for your coming week! How long will your trip be? I am praying that it all goes smoothly. It's you, Javi and Janae, right? I absolutely love the plan that God had all along to add Josiah and Jeremiah to your family. God is sooooo good!

Hello! I'm friends with your sister (we used AHH and have a son with microtia) and have been following your blog. I am a pharmacist and have a daughter who suffered from eczema. It might be eczema and might not. It's usually not that raised. I would call a doctor tomorrow (preferably a dermatologist) to see if you could bring the picture in and have them look at it. If that is not an option, I would take along vaseline and hydrocortisone cream. The vaseline will keep it moisturized and the hc cream will help with itching. Blessings on your trip!

Hey Joy, Joshua has had problems with eczema in the past. He has had some pretty severe outbreaks of it. It is kind of like having an asthma attack, but on the skin. I have lathered on Eucerin cream (it is really thick) and also used hydro cortisone when the doctor told me to. His looks a little different in the pics though. You have gotten really great tips from all these friends. I think taking the pic to the doctor is the best idea and at least having something on hand. S

I agree with Cara about having a dermatologist or even an International Adoption doctor look at the picture. Three of my kids have excema and to keep their skin really well-hydrated our dermatologist recommends Aquaphor. It is over-the-counter and it is great for everything even diaper rash. I use it on my feet and even really dry lips.

I have been following your blog and looking forward to you bringing home your boys; too exciting!

I don't think the skin problem is eczema. My Abel had a rash similar on his face, but it never was able to get that bad. I recommend taking Hydrocortisone cream (the strongest you can buy) with you and start using that; I bet it will clear it up. I used something a bit stronger when we got home, a product called topicort cream. I don't think its scabies or it would more than likely be in different places on the body.

I hope that helps and I look so forward to seeing you get those babes home. You have a beautiful family! Continued blessings to you and your family!

Joy, I tried to find your e-mail but couldn't. I wrote to Andrea and she was going to forward my message to you. I think it looks like Bullous Impetigo. It is a bacterial infection. I may be wrong, since they are in a third world country with many parasites and such that I've never seen. It doesn't look like Eczema or Scabies to me. It definitely looks like a bacterial eruption. I would take the pic. to the Pediatrician to see. No biggie though, you can always wait til you get home. Be careful putting hydrocortisone on it. If it's fungal the cortisone will feed the fungus and make it worse. Be careful and have a great time. Love you all. Deanne
