Camping

We took the kids camping the weekend before Labor Day Weekend. We had not been camping since we went with our young marrieds home group and we just had Janae (1 year old) and I was pregnant with Jordan. Now we attempted to go for the first time as a family of 8 - I know we are crazy, but hey we needed to learn sometime. We fixed up my parents old trailer which still works great and we headed off about 1 1/2 hours from our house. We had a good time and hopefully we will have an even better time next time now that we know better what we are doing and as the weather gets cooler.

**Highlights**

*lots of hikes
*climbing trees
*playing in the hammock
*cooking yummy breakfasts
*campfires
*worship time under the amazing stars
*shooting bb guns at targets and cans (my 3 oldest kids are sharp shooters thanks to my dad)
*the out houses (Joanna was afraid to fall in and she insisted there were baby zebras down in them that would get her)
*oh and the 3 brave girls sleeping in the tent (Joanna, Julia and pregnant mommy - Javi will never live this down - he was not interested in the tent after seeing the bear warnings at our campground :))
- click on any of the pictures to see them larger-
Partners in crime
Yo quiero Taco Bell (yes we smuggled her into Taco Bell on the way home)

Looks like a blast! We're on our way up north right now and are so excited to enjoy the cool weather! Let us know if you'd ever like to go together. That would be a blast@

We, too, have not been camping since that trip when you were pregnant with Jordan. Our lives have changed a bit since then too. I think that this coming year is our time to give it a try. I loved your pictures. Oftentimes, I think that a trip such as this is worth it just to get the pictures. Hopefully, we can follow in your footsteps. You're extra brave to try it pregnant. Way to go!

Looks like fun. Our kids really want to go camping. I think we'll have to wait at least 2 years or so maybe. Can you see us with 4 two year olds camping. I guess it's possible....ha! Jace and Maya would be pretty old, so we could almost have one on one. For now we'll do our little indoor camping we do sometimes. ha.
Great pics though!!! kami

FYI...We have thought about taking our dog with us on our next vacation, however we will need to do drive thrus. Did you realize that you can get the restaurant in big trouble for violating health codes if someone sees your cute little puppy hiding in your backpack? A friend asked the manager of the restaurant about it one time, and the manager stated that she wished she could allow it, but that if a person from the health dept. were to see a dog (other than service) even hiding in a backpack, the restaurant could be immediately shut down. That's enough for us not to sneak our dog in.
